Amaal Ibrahim Moussa achieved economic and social independence – with the help of NHASD
Today we would like to present you another person whose life was positively affected by the work of our Egyptian partner organization New Horizon Association for Social Development (NHASD) that focuses on supporting marginalized rural communities particularly in Upper Egypt. Amaal Ibrahim Moussa is a citizen from the village of Marzouq, which is near Balat in Egypt’s New Valley. Being unemployed, divorced and having to take care of her household by herself, she was living in very difficult circumstances. Through Balat’s local community development organization (CDA), she learned about the New Horizon Association for Social Development (NHASD), which trains villagers in organic farming and also gives out micro-credits (amongst other activities). She decided to join the training sessions and started working on NHASD’s farm, where she grew a crop of vegetables and onions. Moussa sold those products in the marketplace, and also applied for a 2,000 Egyptian pounds loan from NHASD. Upon receiving the loan she also began manufacturing animal products and used the residual materials for manure and compost. Being able to sell all her products in the marketplace to small farmers, Moussa could increase her income, provide for her family and is now economically and socially independent.Today we would like to present you another person whose life was positively affected by the work of our Egyptian partner organization New Horizon Association for Social Development (NHASD) that focuses on supporting marginalized rural communities particularly in Upper Egypt.
